First Light

Night nurse Maya Reyes runs toward a collapsed stranger in the alley off the St. Ambrose ER — and Victor Lane bites her in a starving panic. The Accord’s oldest law says the unsanctioned bitten are owed a clean death — but the enforcer sent to deliver it, Elias Gray, breaks his own law and gives her his blood instead. Maya refuses the prognosis the way she refuses a flatline: she charts her own turning, night by night, because the only way to author what she becomes is to understand it first.

Ep1 — Night Shift

A collapsed stranger bites the nurse who ran to help him — and the Accord’s oldest law says she’s already dead.

Maya drops to her knees beside Victor Lane in the alley off the St. Ambrose ER, and the bite starts a clock. Then a second stranger drops from the fire escape — Elias Gray, the enforcer sent to deliver the Mercy Clause — and breaks his own oldest law instead, pressing his blood to the wound to slow the turning before vanishing. By dawn Maya has taken her own pulse twice, written “Night One,” and begun to chart what she is becoming. Stand-in cut until the render lands.

BThe season

Forty nights, eight episodes.

The full arc, in order — one clock the whole season runs on. The two above are cut; the rest are written and waiting to render, each one already knowing everything the pilot established.

Ep 1

Night Shift

Maya runs to a collapsed stranger in the alley. Victor bites her in a starving panic — and the clock starts.

Ep 2

Symptoms

She refuses the prognosis the way she refuses a flatline — and starts charting the turning, night by night.

Ep 3

The Accord

The bite closes to a silvered scar inside forty-eight hours. The Accord reads her chart and dispatches an enforcer.

Ep 4

Threshold

Elias waits at the door he cannot cross. No entry without invitation — the one rule the world never breaks.

Ep 5

Nineteen Nights

Halfway through the forty. The scrubs carry the alley now — stained once, and stained in every later frame.

Ep 6

Dani Knows

The secret forces Maya to let Dani in. Chosen family, tested — the relationship turns right on schedule.

Ep 7

The Line She Wrote

She stops taking the prognosis she was handed and authors her own — the spine of the whole season pays off.

Ep 8

What Else Have We Killed

Night forty. The finale knows exactly what the pilot established — every lock, every scar, every revision.

CThe ensemble

A cast that holds, season-long.

Every lead is an identity lock in the bible — face, wardrobe, voice, and the arc they’re meant to travel. Pull any thread to see what hangs off it.

Every beat is checked against the arc technique so the turn actually lands on screen — the studio won’t let a lead flatline.

DThe receipts

Held identical, episodes apart.

Each pair is two frames from different episodes the studio kept the same on purpose — the ledger names the lock that enforced it.

Night 1First entry — pulse, temperature, the bite logged the night it happened.
Night 8Eight nights in. Earlier entries untouched; new rows added beneath.
Night 19Halfway. The curve of the turning is legible now — nothing overwritten.
Night 33Thirty-three nights logged. Every prior entry still exactly where it was.

Entries only accrue — the record never resets between episodes, so night 33 still contains night 1.
